Over the last five years, we've worked closely with fellow charity LifeNoW to bridge the gap between children's hospice services and what comes after, improving the lives of our young people and enabling them to succeed in a multitude of ways ✨When a young adult reaches their 26th birthday, they are no longer able to access services at Derian House and, although their care needs can be met by adult services, they can find themselves feeling socially isolated 💔 Following an assessment of the positive changes in transition work across the country, the trustees of LifeNoW recognised that their objectives had been largely fulfilled, and have come to the conclusion that the charity should close... with the remaining funds being transferred to us here at the hospice 🥰 At the time of inception, the partnership was believed to be the first of its kind in the healthcare sector, and the transitional support model has proved to be very successful amongst the Derian House families who have benefitted from it 🫶 We celebrated five years of incredible work with an afternoon tea yesterday, which was attended by trustees and one of their patrons. We shared success stories, hopes for the future, and plenty of cake! 🍰 The funds kindly left to us by LifeNoW will allow us to continue to grow and develop our bespoke young adult service for years to come 💫 We're extremely grateful to the charity for supporting us here at the hospice for the past half decade, and now that their objectives have been largely realised, we're excited to continue its legacy in the work that we do. Here are our second batch of superstar supporters who've gone above and beyond for their local children's hospice over the last seven days #ThankYouThursday 🤩💚 Staff at Holmeswood Methodist School Caroline, Relph and Viktoria took to the skies at Black Knights Parachute Centre on Sunday, and jumped out of the sky at 15,000ft... raising a whopping £2,190.31 for us in the process!💚 The team at Joanne Photography have kindly sent us five vouchers for a full pet portrait photography experience, alongside a £50 credit voucher too that can be put towards buying photos. Get in touch if you'd like to take one from us for a donation.💚 Doodles Day Nursery held an Easter raffle and raised £775 for us.💚 Each member of Ajs & Matchless Owners Club pays £1 at their ride meetups, and came along to donate £300 to us which they've collected over the last few months.💚 Our friends at McDonald's Chorley - Tesco met with other staff from local franchises to present us with a phenomenal £5,860 cheque, money of which has been raised over the last three months thanks to the generous contributions from customers and staff.
