At Derian House Children’s hospice, we recognise that each and every family has individual needs.
Experiencing the death of a child is one of the most devastating things that can happen to anyone.
The support we offer at Derian House, whether practical or emotional, has no time limit. We work with family members in a variety of ways whether they need us immediately after, or in the following months and years.
Please contact the Family Support team via email families@derianhouse.co.uk or telephone 01257 233 300.
How we can support you
Family flats
We have four self-contained flats where families can stay together.
Sunflower Rooms
Our sunflower rooms offer a place to lay your child to rest before their funeral, giving you more time to say goodbye.
Memory making
Celebrate your child’s life through memory-making work and create precious hand and footprint canvasses that you can cherish forever.
Counselling
Bereavement support is available for mums, dads, brothers, sisters, and grandparents.
Family support groups
Stepping Stones
Parents
Parents who have lost a child can come together to support each other. The group meets on a monthly basis.
Pebbles
Siblings
Brothers and sisters can get together with other young people in a similar position and express their feelings by chatting and through playing together.
Cornerstones
Grandparents
Derian’s grandparents meet once a month to chat, share memories, and support each other to help them through the loss of their grandchild.
