BUSINESSES from across the North West are taking on the £50 challenge in order to raise vital funds for Derian House Children’s Hospice.
Teams will be given £50 and tasked with turning it in to as much money as possible for the children and families at Derian House.
The challenge begins on 1 March, and businesses will have 3 months to creatively invest their £50 to achieve the biggest return and compete to be top of the leader board.
Zebra Technologies, based in Fulwood, is one of the businesses joining the challenge to raise money for Derian House.
Steve Blackburn from Zebra said: “The £50 Business Challenge for Derian House has been welcomed at Zebra as each year we try to fundraise in new ways to support local charities. This challenge gives us the opportunity to do something different.
“Our goal is to turn the £50 into at least £500 and we have lots of ideas of how to achieve this including crafting items for sale, bake sales and a company car wash.
“Getting involved in the challenge has already generated excitement within our team, it is a great way to bring our colleagues together and all for a great cause.”
Derian House Children’s Hospice cares for more than 450 children and young people with serious conditions from across the North West, helping them to make the most of every moment.
The care provided is free for families, but services cost £5million to run every year. With only 12 per cent of funding coming from the government, the charity relies heavily on the generosity of its supporters.
To kick-off the £50 Business Challenge, Derian House is holding a networking breakfast at Charnock Farm on Friday 11 February from 8am until 11am.
Mick Croskery, Fundraising Manager at Derian House said: “Back in 2020 the £50 Business Challenge was cancelled due to COVID, so we couldn’t be more excited about its return this year. We’re really looking forward to being able to get together with our business supporters, and what better way to start your Friday than with a free bacon sandwich!
“We would love for businesses to join us to network with each other and to hear more about how they can get involved.”
The event is free to attend but booking is required, see the Derian House website for more details.
