Adele’s son Yaaseen Mulla spent the final hours of his short life at Derian House. Yaaseen passed away just two days before his fourth birthday after an 18-month battle with leukaemia.
Adele shared her favourite memories of Derian House.
She said: “Derian allowed our son Yaaseen to have peace and dignity in his last 12 hours after a long illness. Walking in to Derian that night let us relax and know we would be taken care of without any questions or demands.
“After Yaaseen passed we were asked what his favourite things were. When we said football and motorcycles, the staff brought a motorcycle quilt cover to put on his bed in the sunflower room.
“Yaaseen left Derian that morning to go to the mosque and we were invited back to Derian two days later for his 4th birthday. It was a place for us to go and spend a special day – and we have visited every birthday since.
“Derian has created memories that will live with us forever. We go to the Forget Me Not service every year with full hearts knowing that we will feel his presence.
“Recently we took part in the Keepsake Circle project and created a song for Yaaseen. It was an amazing opportunity to turn words about our very special little man into song.
“Derian has created memories where loss would be and allowed us to refill our hearts with love.”
