An exciting competition to ‘Draw it for Derian’ will see one budding artist’s masterpiece emblazoned on the front of a Volvo truck to celebrate 30 years of care at Derian House Children’s Hospice.
Youngsters up to the age of 16 are asked to submit their birthday-themed art for the challenge, led by truck dealers Thomas Hardie Commercials Ltd., and are encouraged to get as creative as possible.
The winning design will feature a ‘text to donate’ number that will encourage donations while the truck is out on the road or at events. Every customer that uses the vehicle will also be invited to make a voluntary donation.
Steve Wilson, New Vehicle Sales and Marketing Director for Thomas Hardie Commercials Ltd., said: “We’ve been supporters of Derian House for over 25 years, and it is a cause that is close to the hearts of many people. Following the success of our Drive it for Derian charitable truck initiative last year, we decided to launch another, albeit a little different Derian charitable campaign.”
Thomas Hardie launched the ‘Drive it for Derian’ campaign in 2021, which saw their unmissable Derian-branded truck hit the road with their customers invited to make voluntary donations and raised in excess of £7,500 for the hospice.
“Now we’re asking young people to create an eye-catching truck design, reflective of Derian House Children’s Hospice 30-year anniversary.” Steve continued.
“The competition winner will see their design come to life on our truck – thanks to DPL Graphics. Our aim is to generate as much exposure for Derian House as possible.
“Once the truck is ready, the Thomas Hardie Commercials team and the lucky winner will visit the staff and children of Derian House to unveil the new truck, and the winner will be presented with a die cast model of their truck featuring their design.”
Mick Croskery, Fundraising Manager at Derian House, said: “What a way to celebrate 30 years of care at Derian House – we can’t wait to see the winning design!”
“We are hugely grateful to Thomas Hardie Commercials and its customers for supporting us once again. It will cost us £6 million to run services at Derian House in 2023, so we rely heavily on the generosity of our incredible supporters.”
