A JCB vehicle decorated in the eye-catching colours of Derian House Children’s Hospice will be hired out to businesses across the North West to raise money for the charity.
The brand new lifter, bought and decorated by plant hire firm Dig Dig UK, made a special visit to the Chorley-based to kick-start the drive.
The Preston company also brought along a collection of tractor toys for the children to enjoy, which was the icing on the cake of the exciting visit.
Steve Morton, owner of Dig Dig UK is a long-time supporter of Derian House, having been involved in vehicle-themed fundraising events Stars and Cars and Supercar Showtime.
Steve, of Preston, said: “I just wanted to do something good for a brilliant cause – Derian House is a very important charity. It was great to see the children with their new presents.
“I’m just a big softie at heart really. Things like this really pull at the heartstrings, especially when the kids came out to see us on the hospice drive.”
Mick Croskery, Fundraising Manager at Derian House, said: “We’re all really grateful for this very generous act. The money raised – and the awareness it will bring – will make a huge difference for our families.
“Care is free for families but it costs £6million every year to run services at Derian House, meaning that we rely on the kindness of our supporters, just like Steve.”
