A PLEDGE to donate £90 for every home sold in Anwyl’s 90th anniversary year has seen the homebuilder gift more than £6,000 to a Chorley based charity.
Buckshaw Village based Anwyl Homes Lancashire has shared its portion of the charity pot between two children’s hospices in its area of operation – Derian House, on Chancery Road, in Astle Village, and Claire House Liverpool, with each receiving £6,625.
In total, the North Wales headquartered Anwyl Homes business has donated £35,250 to charity as a result of its 90th anniversary pledge. In addition to the Lancashire donations, Anwyl gifted £20,000 to the Ty Gobaith & Hope House Children’s Hospices in Shropshire and North Wales and £2,000 was donated to the Neumark Foundation to help fund laptops for school pupils during the Covid pandemic.
Chorley recipient Derian House looks after 450 babies, children and young people with life limiting illnesses from across Lancashire, South Cumbria and Greater Manchester, helping them to make the very most of the time they have.
Caroline Taylor, Head of Income, Marketing and Communications at Derian House Children’s Hospice, said: “We’re so grateful for the amazingly generous donation by Anwyl Homes to celebrate their 90th anniversary.
“We receive just over 10 per cent of our funding from the NHS, so we rely on the generosity of our supporters for 90p of every £1 – that’s why donations such as this are vital to ensure we can continue looking after families now and in the future.
“This money could pay to send six families on what could be their final holiday together at one of our holiday lodges, or it could pay for 44 days of nursing care for a child. It will be well used, and we can’t thank Anwyl Homes enough.”
Anwyl’s Lancashire business operates across the county and in parts of Merseyside and Cheshire.
Its regional office is less than three miles from Derian House.
Managing director of Anwyl Homes Lancashire John Grime said: “As a family-run business and in line with our ethos of being a thoughtful homebuilder, supporting Derian House Children’s Hospice was the natural choice to mark our 90th anniversary. It’s difficult to put into words how vital their care and support is for families in this area who are going through such difficult times. We’re proud to be able to support the charity.”
