With the click of a button, all visitors to Derian House’s website can now customise their experience with a wide range of accessibility and language support tools.
The Recite Me toolbar, which can be accessed at the top right of the hospice’s homepage, can read text aloud, translate content into over 100 languages, and adjust font size, colour, and background for easier reading.
This powerful tool makes the site more inclusive for those who may have difficulty reading or speaking English, as well as for individuals with disabilities, learning difficulties, or visual impairments.
Caroline Taylor, Director of Income and Engagement at Derian House, said: “In a digital age, it is essential that our website is inclusive for everyone who wants to find out more about the care we provide at Derian House.
“The Recite Me toolbar is a gamechanger. Whether a family is looking for more information about our services, a volunteer is looking for ways to offer support, or a supporter is looking for ideas for their next fundraiser – having a website where people can access information in an easy way is crucial.
“Over the coming weeks we will be demonstrating the toolbar to families and professionals who refer families to Derian House.”
The Recite Me language and accessibility toolbar is now live on www.derianhouse.co.uk and www.derianfamily.co.uk.
Derian House, based in Chorley, cares for more than 400 babies, children, young people and their families from across the North West.
