Do you dare to try our newest event?? Then walk this way!
The time has come to Walk This Way!Â
Schedule
- Doors open = 4.30pm
- Lego training and walk = 5pm – 6.15pm
- Glass training and walk = 6.30pm – 7.30pm
- Fire training and walk = 7.30pm -8.30pm
- Home time = 8.30pm onwards
If you are taking part in all three walks, then please arrive between 4.30pm – 4.45pm. If you are only doing one of the walks, please arrive no later than 15 minutes before the time slot.
On arrival, please ensure you head to our Derian House gazebo which will be located on the field next to Derian. Our team there will then take your name, sign you in and hand you one of our Derian branded tshirts for the evening.
Parking
- As our car park here at the hopsice is only small, we ask that you park on Hall Gate Car Park, Chancery Road, Astley Village, Chorley, PR7 1XA. Please park on the car park and then make your way along Chancery Road to find us here at Derian House. We will have placed directional signage along Chancery Road for anyone who isn’t sure on where we are, and we will also have a member of our team there on Chancery Road, just at the end of our Derian House driveway, ready to welcome you to the event. Please see map attached where you will see the location of both the car park and Derian.
- Hall Gate Car Park is a free car park and also a public car park, so if you are arriving before 5pm it may still be slightly busy so please consider timings.
- We kindly ask that you do not park on ANY of the estates/roads local to us, as we do not want to upset our neighbours.
Food & Drinks
- We will have Smokies Grill Hut of Longton on site all evening serving fresh hot food for you all, please do visit the vendor and support small local businesses.
- Our team will also be serving teas, coffees and cold drinks in our Seaside Room. These drinks will be available to all our guests for a voluntary donation. Both cash and card options are available.
- Please remember to put all your rubbish/wrappers/empty drinks bottles in the bins provided in the Seaside Room, or outside on the field where the event will be taking place.
Training & First Aid
- Closer to the event, I will be sending through some online training videos for you to watch. Please ensure you do watch these BEFORE the event. It is vital that you are all aware of the health & safety elements of the event. We will also be having mini “refresher” training on the evening too, which will be held in our Seaside Room.
- We will have Lee and the team from New England Medical on site for any first aid needs, and all the staff from Firewalk Events UK are first aid trained too (fingers crossed none of us need any medical attention at all) . They have kindly offered their services to us for free, so please make sure you say hello to the team and pass on your thanks! Take a look at their website here… https://www.nemedical.org.uk/index.php
Photography
- We will have our resident photographer, Steve Salmon, on site throughout the evening taking lots of photos of you all taking on your challenges! These photos will be availble on our social media or via a link I will send out after the event. If anyone is wanting any copies of the photos without the photographers watermark on, please do let me know, as Steve has said he can do this in return for a small donation to Derian House.
Things to remember…
- Smoking – smoking is NOT permitted anywhere on the grounds of Derian House (i.e the car park, outside the Seaside Room, on the drive etc). It is however fine on the field where the event will be.
- Parking – Please do follow the rules I have stated above with regards to parking. If anyone requires any disabled parking bays then please do let me know ASAP so I can ensure you are parked within the grounds of the hospice.
- Derian House Children’s Hospice – We are a working hospice 24/7, and we often have families and children staying with us, who sometimes are on end of life care. Please be respectful when on the grounds. We do want everyone to have a brilliant night, but we also need to remain courteous and respectful to our families and children here at Derian.
- Dogs – dogs are welcome to come along to the event. Just please make sure they are kept on a lead at all times and bring plenty of poop bags!
- Personal belongings – Your own personal belongings are your own responsilblty, so please ensure that you keep everything safe with you at all times.
