INTERNATIONAL singing sensation Kiki Deville has released a new charity single to raise money in memory of her baby son.
Kiki, who lives in Earby, East Lancashire, is patron of Derian House Children’s Hospice, where her son Dexter was cared for during his short life.
The entertainer, best-known for her appearances on ITV’s The Voice UK and BBC’s All Together Now, wrote the heart-felt song, titled ‘The Day’ in memory of Dexter alongside singer/songwriter Angus Powell during the lockdown earlier this year.

After losing Dexter to Zellweger Syndrome in 2007, aged just one month and three days-old, Kiki became a passionate spokesperson for parental bereavement.
She was made official Patron of Derian House Children’s Hospice in Chorley, the hospice where Dexter died, and works tirelessly to raise awareness of organisations that help parents come to term with their loss.
Kiki, said: “I have campaigned loudly that we remove the stigma attached with bereavement and grief, and that we start to allow people to talk about their experiences and give them platforms on which to do that.
“With this single, we’re not looking for chart success. We’re not even looking to be played on the radio. But we are looking to give people a song that they can connect with.
“I want anyone who has been touched by bereavement to be able to share their grief, and share the stories of their loved ones, without any judgement.”
Children’s charities, Derian House and the umbrella charity for the UK’s children’s hospices, Together For Short Lives, will receive 30% of the profits from iTunes sales of ‘The Day’.
Kiki added: “These incredible children’s charities are both crucial to families with children with life threatening and life limiting conditions, and both have suffered greatly due to the global pandemic, with an enormous amount of their fundraising stalled.”
Caroline Taylor, Communications and Marketing Manager at Derian House Children’s Hospice, said: “We are beyond proud of our wonderful Patron Kiki for her new single, and are thrilled that she has chosen to donate a percentage of the profits of each sale to help us care for children and young adults at Derian House.
“Our aim is to make sure the life of every child matters, and to ensure that our families are able to make the very most of every moment they have together. With services costing £4.8million to run every year – and less than 10 per cent of that coming from government funding – it is only down to generosity such as this that we are able to continue.”
Myra Johnson, Director of Communications and Engagement at Together for Short Lives, said: “Thank you for your generous support Kiki, you are a great ambassador for seriously ill children and families. Your beautiful song is a heartfelt tribute to your boy Dexter, and bereaved families like yours. I know “The Day” will resonate with the families that Together for Short Lives is here for. Thank you for supporting us and raising awareness of the enormous grief and loss that families go through, and why it’s vital to make sure they get the support they need.”
